Privacy Policy for F Translator Extension

1. Overview

Backlog Translator Extension (“the extension”) is designed to provide inline translation of comments on platforms such as Jira, Salesforce, and other web pages.

We respect your privacy. This extension does not collect, store, or share personal data beyond what is necessary to provide translation functionality.

2. Data We Process

2.1 User-Provided Content

When you use the translation feature:

  • The selected comment text is sent to your chosen AI provider:
    • Anthropic (Claude)
    • OpenAI (GPT models)
    • Google (Gemini)

This data is used only for generating translations.

2.2 Settings Stored Locally

The extension stores the following in your browser using chrome.storage.local:

  • API key (for selected provider)
  • Selected AI provider
  • Custom translation instructions

These settings:

  • Are stored locally on your device
  • Are not transmitted to any server except when making API requests to your selected provider

3. What We Do NOT Collect

We do not:

  • Track browsing history
  • Collect personal identity information
  • Store or log translation history
  • Send data to any servers other than selected AI providers
  • Use analytics, cookies, or tracking tools

4. Data Sharing

We only share data with the AI provider you explicitly configure:

  • Text you choose to translate is sent to the provider’s API
  • No additional metadata is intentionally included

Each provider may process data according to their own privacy policies:

  • Anthropic
  • OpenAI
  • Google

We recommend reviewing their policies before use.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

  • API keys are stored securely in browser storage
  • No external backend servers are used
  • HTML content is sanitized to prevent XSS attacks
  • All API requests are made over HTTPS

6. User Control

You have full control over your data:

  • You can delete your API key at any time
  • You can uninstall the extension to remove all stored data
  • You can choose which AI provider to use
  • You can control what text is translated

7. Third-Party Services

This extension depends on third-party AI services for translation. Their availability, behavior, and data handling are outside our control.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected with a new “Last updated” date.
